This looks awesome. I have to admit I’m surprised.
Ever since it was announced that they would be rebooting the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Franchise I was a bit sceptical of just what we would be looking forward to. And as it was announced that Michael Bay would be producing this project my scepticism increased. Not that Michael Bay was a bad producer. I liked his Bad Boys franchise, etc. Its just what he did with Transformers that got me a little concerned.
Well, and then they announced that Robert Englund wouldn’t be returning to play Freddie and I was a bit more concerned by that, since Robert Englund was amazing in the role as Freddie. But I did understand them changing actors, given that this was a reboot and Robert Englund is now much older than when he was first playing Freddie.
I guess that is were there really started to be a ray of hope for the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise, as they decided to cast Jackie Earle Haley, who was absolutely amazing as Rorschach in the Watchmen. If Watchmen had more Rorshach it would have been a better film. Well at lest that’s my opinion.
In any case, with Jackie Earle Haley as Freddie and trailers like the one above, I can’t help but feel very optimistic about this reboot. Unlike the ‘Friday the 13th’ reboot which was done by Rob Zombie. And lest face it, Michael Bay isn’t that horrible when it comes to films. He probably has a lot of pressure from Hasbro to make a film that would help them sell toys and so his level of control on the Transformers project is probably quite limited.
I hope ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ plays out as well as this trailer. If it does we might be in for a treat when this film releases. So what do you think? Are you looking forward to ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’?
