Are You a Nice Guy?

Are you having trouble with the lady?  Finding that you have a lot of girl friends, but no girlfriend.  Well it probably means that your a nice guy.   Nice guys have a lot of trouble out there in the world as it seems that the mean guys always get the girl.  Well, and I guess there is that saying that ‘nice guys finish last’, but I’m sure that has nothing to do with it.

I myself have sadly been the nice guy.  Listening to a lot of my friends troubles and getting close to many women over the years.  The only problem was non of these women wanted to really get that close with me.  By now you probably wondering why I’m telling you this.

Well its because of the video above.  I was looking though YouTube (since I was bored), and I happened to stubble upon this video series done by Wong Fu Production.  Its great and has all the quirkiness that you would want in a TV series (or Web series to be exact).  I really am enjoying this web series and felt that it was a good idea to recommend it to you.

This series is very clearly directed to the Asian community, but I think that a good series is a good series regardless of who is involved or who it is directed to.  ‘Are you a Nice Guy’ has an all Asian cast, and does its production out of San Diego, California.

I’m really surprised that I haven’t heard of these guys before, being that they started production in 2003.  The video posted above was done in 2007.  Some may say that I was just late to the party, but I think that it means that there are gems out there on the Internet just waiting to be discovered. Well at lest that’s the story I plan on sticking to.

In any case enjoy the video and tell me what you think.

Avatar’s Human Hardware Featurette

I don’t know if you guys feel the same way that I’ve been feeling about James Cameron’s Avatar.  But, I haven’t liked any of the trailers that I’ve seen come out for Avatar thus far.

Sure James Cameron, one of the best directors of our time, has been working for 5 years on Avatar.  And sure its supposed to revolutionise cinema with his use of 3-D etc..  Its just the trailers haven’t really pulled me in yet.  Have you felt the same way?  I want to be excite for Avatar it just doesn’t seem all that interesting.

Well that was until, I saw the above video over at Rottentomatoes.com, and I have to say that I’m impressed. This Featurette makes Avatar seem like a real Action Packed blockbuster movie unlike its trailers.  I’m not really sure why.

Maybe they have a marketing problem with this movie.  Or perhaps they are trying to hide what the story is really about, or just some of the better parts of the movie from us. I’m not sure.  But what I do know is what they are putting out isn’t that exciting.  I’m glad to see this featurette and hope that they start to put out more trailers like the video above. If they don’t I think they might find it hard to pay back the reported $500 million budget.

But that’s just my opinion.  What’s yours?

Review: Ninja Assassins

poster_01 I don’t practise to write a lot of reviews for movies as I’m not a professional movie review, nor is this a film review site.  But I do feel that this movie was deserving of a review seeing as my opinion differs from the over all consensus.
Currently on Rotten Tomatoes,  Ninja Assassins is holding a 29% rating.  But I’m here to tell you that (I believe) this movie rocks.  Ninja Assassins is just awesome. It is the quintessential 80s Action movie, that includes all of the blood and guts, bad acting and over the top fighting scenes that I grow up with and love.  Ninja Assassins even ends with a very 80-esque song that sounds like they took some samples from the Rocky theme song.
Having said that, even though I personally think this movie was great, it isn’t for everyone.  If you didn’t like the 80s style of doing action films your probably not going to like this film, and if you want great dialogue your going to be out of luck.
I thought the story line was ok as it did the job of explained the basic reasons for why the characters in the film are doing what they are doing.  (Just an aside, I personally don’t believe that an action movie needs to have a great story line. The story for me, just needs to be enough to be somewhat believable as the action in this type of movie is the primary aspect and not the story. But that’s just my opinion.)
Even though the film was awesome, there were some problems with this movie.
  1. The Dialogue  As I said there is some pretty bad dialogue in this movie and some bad delivery by some of the characters.  Especially Takeshi who sounded cheese every time he spoke.

  2. Shaky Camera.  Shaky Cam is only used in one scene where the main character, Raizo, is running from a group of ninja in the streets and they decided to have the camera man run after them.  It got really shaky, so much so, that it was hard to track exactly what was happening in the scene.

  3. Unresolved Storylines.  I think this was done intentionally to leave room for a sequel, but I did feel they were worth mentioning.  First, we never find out who was tipping Raizo off to who was going to get assassinated.  Also, we never find out who exactly were the parties responsible for investigating Mika and Maslow and moved to have the ninjas to assassinate Mika.  We assume that it was other governments, but it isn’t really directly pointed out. (I don't really like to assume what a film is trying to do. I call that lazy film making.)
Having said all that, I would recommend you go out and see this movie for yourself.  If you don’t like seeing blood and gore, this movie is not for you.  This movie by no means is a masterpiece, but then again its not intending to be one.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and go see it.

Lego Trinity Help

I saw this posted over at bitrebels.com and I could help but share it here.  I love ‘The Matrix Trilogy’.  And yes I did like the third and second film. The second one was a bit crazy with the orgy scene, but with the third film I really don’t have to many complaints. But anyways.

I think videos like the one above are pretty cool and creative, I don’t know how you feel about these kind of videos, but I could watch them all day.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, even though it is a bit short.  Tell me what you think about it.

Twilight Moms

 Twilight_Moms_by_InLoveWitEdwardC

I didn’t like how my blog ended this week on a negative note.  So I decided to through up a few posts today.

I saw this picture over on Digg.com and I think it does say it all.  Enjoy.

Sorry

A little while ago I put up a post entitled "Am I Brainwashed?-Update".  I have since pulled the post.  Sorry to anyone that may have linked to the post.  I never intended any harm to you.  And I would like to especially apologize to my friend at the centre of the post.  I thought she was ok with me making the post, but clearly she was not.  So I made the decision to pull it.

As a blogger we try to write what we know and sometimes that does include things about people that are close to us. To the women in the post, your life shouldn't be the subject of my blog if you don't want it to be. Sorry.

Chriseverything.com

But recently, I decided to purchase some domains.  For those of you finding it difficult to type out my URL (chriseverything.blogspot.com),  your in luck.  I now own chriseverything.com and chriseverything.ca (for my Canadian friends).  If you type those URLs in to your browser you will be redirected to my blog.

Wizard World is Coming to Town

Wizard For those of you that didn’t know.  (Which I think makes up the majority of people reading this.)  Last year, Wizard Entertainment purchased Paradise Comics' Toronto Comicon. At the time of the purchase, It was announced that Wizard would be holding the next Toronto Comicon sometime in 2010.

Well, this week as I checked WizardUniverse.com, I noticed a little ad for the Toronto Comicon, which will be held this March 26-28, 2010. Now, I haven’t been reading comics for a few years now, but I still like going to the conventions.  And now that Wizard World is behind this convention, I’m just excited to see what they will do with this convention.

eliza_dushku_9 Wizard’s line up for the show is pretty good, not as good as Hobby star's FanExpo line ups, but good non the less.  I really like the fact that they were able to get a hold of Eliza Dushku.  I’ve  wanted to meet Eliza for a while now and its not because she is an attractive young women.  (Ok, I didn’t buy that one either.)  But, in any case I have been a fan of hers since Buffy, and it sucks they cancelled her last show, Dollhouse. I really liked that show.

The other guests are ok also, with Christian Serratos of ‘Twilight’ Fame.  Ernie Hudson from ‘Ghostbusters’ and more recently Heroes;  Margot Kidder from the ‘Superman’ films. And a few old time wrestlers.  Its a pretty rounded expo and hopefully it will be a lot of fun.

The PETA that Stole Thanksgiving

Today, many of you will be sitting down to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.  But It appears that some people don’t like that Idea.

Well, if your eating turkey that is.

PETA is up to their old tricks.   They released a new commercial (which you can see above) just in time for Thanksgiving.  I guess this is an attempt to try and persuade you to go vegetarian this Thanksgiving. Like that is happening.  I can’t really see anyone give up there turkey, but PETA is still trying.  Why? I don’t know.

PETA is a weird organization for me.  I believed that if they got off the ‘Go Veg’ kick they are on,  they could have at lest gotten a lot of people to buy turkeys from more ‘ethical’ sources, just by describing the various health benefits that can come from eating animals that are raised under better conditions.  It would certainly be easier for someone to ‘Go Veg’ if they had the idea to make sure there animals they consume were treated ethically.

But instead PETA has opted for the ‘2X4’ approach.  We will just slap people over the head with these grotesque videos and ads.  Its crazy.  A more subtle approach would work better in my opinion.  Then again, that’s just my opinion.

Happy Thanksgiving

thanksgiving Hey guys.  I just wanted to wish my American Friends a very happy Thanksgiving this year. I hope you all have a wonderful day today.  Just don’t eat to much turkey.

Dare to Dream Update

Hey guys.  As you can remember from a few days ago.  My friend Tim Boyle over at the ‘Inside Timmy’s Mind’ blog  was on a quest to see Bob Newhart in stand-up with Ben Stiller.  Well there has been a development in the story.

A friend of ours Vanessa Strickland was able, through twitter to get to Ben Stiller.  He was unfortunately unable to attend the show.  But he was gratuitous enough to thank Tim on his Twitter feed www.twitter.com/RedHourBen. (Just look for the post @vanstar.)

I think that its pretty cool that Ben thanked Tim.  He could have simply ignored what was happened or brushed Tim off.   But to respond I think shows some class on Ben’s part. Thank you Ben.

I would like to encourage anyone that reads this to also thank Ben.

Ben Stiller’s Greenberg Trailer

I have to say that I usually enjoy Ben Stiller movies.  He’s a comedian that doesn’t use a lot of cheap comedy. His comedy is also pretty clean and deals with issues of vulnerability, etc.. That's why I’m a little sad to see this film.

Looking from the trailer, this film seems to be a step out of comedy for Ben Stiller.  I have to wonder why.  Maybe there just isn’t money in comedy any more or maybe he just wants something new.  In any case if he leaves comedy he joins the likes of Jamie Foxx, and Rob Williams that have, until recently, been doing more serious roles.  (That is excluding Old Dogs for Rob Williams.)

I just hope that he continues to do comedy.  He will be missed if he leaves.

***Just thought that I would mention that there I first saw this video posted over at The Movie Blog.

New Moon Bigger than Dark Knight

photo_02_hires Well not really.  But it did get kind of close this past weekend.

According to estimates, ‘Twilight: New Moon’ broke the record for the most midnight showing tickets sold with $26.5 million and most ticket sales on opening day with more than $70 million dollars (according to the LA Times).   In total, it is estimated ‘New Moon’ made $140.7 million at the domestic box office and $258.8 million worldwide.  (Well  that’s according to Yahoo! News.)

All of this I find impressive give the reaction to the first movie.  New Moon managed to double the amount of money that the first ‘Twilight’ movie made over the same weekend last year.  Don’t get me wrong $70 million is nothing to sneeze at.  I just remember that a lot of people I knew didn’t really like the first one. (I liked it though.)

Perhaps the increased recognition of the franchise lead to the bigger weekend. When the first ‘Twilight’ released no one thought that it would be as big as it was.  I actually never even heard of ‘Twilight’ until about a week or 2 before the movie released.  The theatre that I worked at had so much faith in the movie that they opened it in one of our smaller theatres.  Boy were they wrong.

The day the first ‘Twilight’ released,  I remember going in and hearing that there was a line outside the theatre before the theatre had opened. Those lines continued through out the weekend.  There was so many people (well teen girls) coming in to see the movie that by the evening they decided to move ‘Twilight’ into a larger theatre and bump another film into the smaller theatre that Twilight had been in.  It was insane.  No one thought the first one would do as good as it did and here it was smoking the other films we had at the theatre. The great performance at the theatre by the first Twilight film earned it a sequel, and a third film due out in June of 2010.

I recently had an opportunity to see ‘New Moon’ and I was thinking about doing a review for it.  But then, I felt that it wouldn’t be right for me to do so.  This film is very much directed towards the female audience and as a guy there are a bunch of stuff that I just didn’t get.  Certainly the women in the audience liked it, as you could hear there reactions to things going on in the film.  It just didn’t impact me as a guy.

Its not all that surprising though.  Reportedly about 80% of people that saw ‘New Moon’ were female.  Meaning that we will have to continue enduring the stream of female focused movie that are currently coming to theatres.  Well, not really.

I kind of like the ‘Proposal’ and ‘The Ugly Truth’.  What do you think about the female film phenomena? Do you like it?

The State of the Wii Address

Wii_Wiimotea For those that have been keeping track, the Nintendo Wii recently passed a milestone.  It was 3 years ago on November 19, that the Nintendo Wii released to the world.  How have things changed since then?  Did the Wii really bring in a revolution in game designs?

Not really sadly.

Three years ago, I woke up at 3 o’clock in the morning, headed to my nearby Best Buy store, and waited for the next 5 hours in the cold to make sure I could get a Wii.  (I waited 5 hours because they decided not to hand out the sheets that reserved your Wii until the store opened at 8 am and not the 6 am as advertised, but that’s another story).   I was number 33 of 35, which made me happy that I was able to get a Wii given the shortages that year (and I really didn’t want to wait for one).  zeldatwilightprincessBack then, I was very excite for the system, as I read all the stuff about the motion control, plus the fact that they decided to release Zelda at launch (I love Zelda).  I remember coming home from church that day, setting up the Wii, and immediately getting into Zelda: Twilight Princess, and just absolutely loving it.  Zelda was amazing game that used the motion control brilliantly, and it still is a great game, having played it through recently.  But I find the Wii hasn’t progressed much past than.

Certainly motion control and the overall success of the Wii has been a inspiration for the industry, with both Microsoft and Sony creating there own motion control systems.  Its just that I don’t really see the Wii doing anything revolutionary with motion control.  As far as I’m concerned the system has  become relatively dead in the water these days in terms of carrying their innovation forward.  Microsoft seems to have a greater handle on the future of motion control than Nintendo with all the things they have planned with Project Natal, which is disappointing given  Nintendo started the motion control idea.

Don’t get me wrong.  Whenever Nintendo has released a game for the Wii it gets high scores on every review website and the controls are great.  It’s just that it seems Nintendo doesn’t have the will to do something really great with the system.  Given that the Wii is really a modified GameCube, Nintendo could have come up with a great online strategy that would have at lest made up for some of the Wii’s hardware short fall with its competitors (or very innovative games).  But the Wii still uses Friend codes for basic connections (so out dated) and hasn’t moved forward to try and create an online community like Microsoft and Sony have.  Nintendo doesn’t have much of an online strategy as it leaves it up to the developers to decide what to do in terms of online game play.  This decision by Nintendo has let to not being a lot of online games for the Wii

Also, the third parties seem to haven’t quite completely gotten the Wii yet.  Other than some bright spots in games like the Conduit (which I’m still waiting to pick up (confession time here)), many of the third parties have been obsessed with bringing ‘Shovel Ware’ to the Wii.  By ‘Shovel Ware’, I mean games that are direct ports of games that a company built for another system, without considering the Wii’s unique control system, and thus, creates a game that is identical to the game that was on another system, but with poor controls.  The Wii has been plagued with these games and an unending supply of mini games.

Having said all that, the Wii does show some signs of hope though.  Nintendo is continuing to try and design new games for the system and to push the boundaries as no other company.  Nintendo recently announced that their forthcoming Zelda game will use a different ‘flow’ design then we are use to from Zelda games. Nintendo has also created some alternative games that have gotten non gamers excited about gaming, with Wii fit and Wii Sports resort.

My problem with the Wii is that I feel that my group of gamer has been a little underserved.  I grow up with Nintendo and I like my Mario and Zelda and Metroid group of games.  I do also enjoy Wii Fit and Wii Sports,  its just I don’t want to play mini games and Wii Fit all the time.  I like to be in a game that is immersive and more to the hardcore end of the scale.  (Even though I’m more casual with my play.)

It has really been sad for me being a long time Nintendo fan having my Wii just sit there for months on end.  There have been a few games that have made me pick up my Wii like Punch-Out and Wii fit Plus, but I want more out of the system.

Maybe I’m asking for too much from my Wii,  its just I want to be excited for this system again.  How do you feel?  Are you a Wii owner?  Do you still play it?

Daring to Dream

Many of us have done it.  Went out and dreamed of a day that you would be some where or accomplish something so grand that you probably wouldn’t even believe that it could be accomplished. For some their dream has been to become a famous athlete or singer or actor or politician.  (Ok maybe not a politician)  You had a dream of something that you wanted to accomplish and it became the driving force of your life.

That is what my friend Tim Boyle over at the “Inside Timmy’s Mind” blog is doing.  He had a dream of seeing Bob Newhart do stand up before he died and thanks to his parents and an open date on his calendar, his dream will come true.  But He has an even grander dream now.  He has managed to get an extra ticket to the show and has now set up a mission to try and get his second idol, Ben Stiller, to come to Toronto and see the show with him.

Some of the people reading this probably think that Tim’s dream is absolutely ridiculous.  To see Bob Newhart do stand up with Ben Stiller.  Maybe it is ridiculous, but aren't’ all dreams.   For those that want to be actors, they must realize that the chance that they will make it to fame and fortune is almost nil, as there are only so many parts in Hollywood and thousands of actors vying for them.  Becoming a famous actor goes beyond simple hard work and talent, it requires some luck and opportunity to reach any form of fame or fortune.  So why do it?

The point were someone starts to question the validity of there goal is the point were most people give up.  Or worse yet they stop dreaming all together.  I think that stopping to dream is probably the greatest tragedy of our society.  Most people see their busy lives and obligations as a reason not to dream, and so they just continue through life just survive or worse yet forcing there dreams on to there kids.

Don’t stop dreaming. Please for your kids and for yourself. I’m not saying that  your should shove your responsibilities.  What I am saying is that you as a parent need to be an inspiration to your kids.  How will your kids learn to dream if you don’t show them?  And besides I feel that this is how people live fulfilled lives,  by accomplishing there dreams.

I have a dream of moving out of my parents home, by some time next year.  I don’t know how I’m going to do it, as I’m unemployed currently.  But its the dream that gives me hope that some day soon I’ll have my own place.  Dreaming isn’t necessarily knowing every detail of how something will be accomplished.  Part of the dream is figuring out how its all going to work out.

That’s why I applaud Tim and I hope that his dream comes true.  Bravo Tim.  Thanks for the inspiration.

Jackass 3 in 3-D

Jackass Do you know how to tell that a film franchise has run its course?  You can usually tell when it tries to use a gimmick in order to try and stay relevant.  Its usually at this point in the film franchise that its smart to just give the franchise a rest.  But that I guess is where Jackass says no.

Not that Jackass was a serious film franchise by any count.

But apparently, the guys making Jackass 3 are now saying that they may film Jackass 3 in 3-D.  This is absolutely ridiculous.  I have a hard time thinking that people need to see this film franchise in 2-D much less 3-D.  But I guess that after seeing someone take a baseball bat to the nuts a 100 times it does get a bit boring.

Maybe 3-D is just what Jackass needs to spice up the franchise.  Then again, lets just hope this is the final nail in the coffin for this film franchise.

Ford Unveils New Car for Cash- Strapped Buyers.

Ford Unveils New Car For Cash-Strapped Buyers: The 1993 Taurus

Losing Benefits over Facebook

CBC News is reporting that a depressed woman (from Quebec, Canada), has lost her long-term sick leave insurance benefits over some Facebook photos.  According to CBC, Manulife (the insurance company) saw some pictures of Nathalie blanchard posted on her Facebook account that showed her at the beach and at a bar, and thus decided that Nathalie was fit to work and ended her insurance benefits.

It seems pretty straight forward that if your insurance company catches you on the beach when you are on sick leave you would lose your benefits.  But, what make this story different is that Nathalie  suffers from Depression which lead to here sick leave, and was thus advised by those treating her to go to the beach and to go hang out at bars, etc. to help treat her depression. So I have to wonder how Manulife at arm length would have been able to declare her cured of her depression by looking at photos of her on Facebook.

Another point of concern with this story is that Nathalie’s Facebook account is locked and is only accessible by people that she friends.  How would Manulife be able to get to her Facebook page without her approval?  It appears that the protections that Facebook is using to keep your account private aren’t so strong after all.  At lest not for insurance companies.

I hope this women gets her benefits back.  Companies shouldn’t be diagnosing people’s mental state through their pictures on Facebook.

What happened to the Martial Arts Movie?

This trailer is awesome.

I recently saw a trailer for Ninja Assassin and I can’t wait to see it.  But it got me asking. What happened to the Martial Arts movie?

Ninja Assassin is the first martial arts movie that I’ve seen released in a while.  Martial Arts movies use to big at the theatre, but they seem to all but disappeared, or been wrapped into other genres.  Have we had enough of Martial Arts movies?

I personally hope not, I love Martial Arts movies.  What do you think?  Does the genre need a break?

New Twilight New Moon TV trailers

Just saw these new TV trailers post over by The Movie Blog,  and I have to say that this Twilight looks to be a lot more action packed than the last one.  I’m really looking forward to this movie.

A Day to Remember

I want to stop and thank all of the War Vets that fought for our freedom. Because of the War Vets I'm able to live a free life and I'm thankful for that. Thank you.

Justice league: Crisis on Two Earth's Trailer

I just saw this over on IGN.com and I thought that it would be cool to share it here. I've always love the Warner Brothers DC cartoon series and I'm looking forward to watching this one. What do you think of the trailer?

Skank Robbers the Movie

Growing up in the 90s I remember watching the shows like 'Martin' and 'In Living Color'. That is why when I saw this trailer over on The Movie Blog, I was pretty happy to see these characters again. Sheneneh and Wanda were hilarious in their time and so just to see them in any form was great. Then I heard they were making a movie based on these characters and I was looking forward to seeing the film. But I started thinking, Was this a good idea?

Sheneneh was just a side character that popped up every so often in 'Martin' and Wanda only appeared in short skits. Could these Sheneneh and Wanda characters really hold down a whole movie together and still be funny? I think that characters like Sheneneh and Wanda would find it hard to be interesting and funny for anything long like a feature length film, since there whole gag was that they were always chasing after some man and they were ugly, (beside the fact that the audience knew it was a guy dressed up like a women playing the role).

Also, given the fact that both of these characters have been off TV for over 10 years I have to wonder if its really a good idea to try and bring them back. There is probably a good portion of the movie going audience that will not even recognize these characters and thus are not immediately interested in seeing a movie about them.

I think this film is probably 10 years to late. Then again, I will probably still go to see it. What do you think? Are you interested in this movie?

This is Why I dislike Hulu?

For all the praise that services like Hulu seems to get, I have no such love for the service.   Its not that I believe that it is a bad service its just that I can’t use it.  Just take a look at the picture below.

Hulu

I would love to use a service like Hulu, its just a shame that they still are only in the USA.

I believe that if services like Hulu don’t become universal they will have a very hard time breaking into the international market, as the pirates are filling the void that Hulu isn’t filling.  Lets hope that copyright holders have a change of heart soon, for us outside the US.

Oh Brother

Have you ever went to the Theatre and been absolutely annoyed with a trailer?

I've been feeling that way lately about the trailer for the movie Brothers. Recently, I've recently been trying to see a movie every week on the cheap night at my local theatre and without fail the Brothers trailer plays before every showing each week and it just annoys me.

I have zero interest in seeing this movie so much so that it rubs me the wrong way to see the trailer and I just haven't had this happen to me before with any other movie. By now you are probably asking what is wrong with this trailer? Why does it bother me? The truth is I'm not even completely sure myself.

When I first saw the Brothers trailer it looked like a decent movie. I was saying to myself that I wouldn't mind seeing this movie when it comes out. Then, Toby Maguire's character went crazy and I was just turned off and decided never to see this movie. (At lest not in Theatres.)

I like the old formula of the girls husband or boyfriend dies and a close friend, etc. hooks up with the girl, then die husband or boyfriend is found alive and now they need to deal with what happened. But, this film (I find) tries to (at lest with the trailer as I haven't seen the movie) reinvent the wheel. The trailer seems to make this movie out to be some kind of thriller, when a film like this shouldn't be. Its just annoying.

If you missed the trailer for this film I posted it below. Tell me if you feel the same way about this movie. And what films have rubbed you the wrong way.

What’s with Baby Seals

For years I’ve looked at the different campaigns PETA has run over the years and I have to wonder what’s up with this guys? GraceSealNEW.ai They seem to be very extreme in there beliefs, and the tactics they take to get there message across to people. From having famous models and actresses pose nude to protest fur to the Vegetarians making better lovers and then to this latest campaign to Save the Seals.

The campaign to save the Seals has gained the support of many A list stars from Paul Mccartney, Pamela Anderson and the lovely Grace Park pictured above. But I have to wonder what is the fuss all about.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t believe in the mistreatment of Animals or for them to needlessly suffer for any reason. This same sentiment is also located in the Bible that I draw much of my world view from. In Proverbs 12:10 (NKJV), it says, “A righteous man regards the life of his animal, …”. That being said, why are the seals so important? This year PETA felt it so important to go out and start the campaign to stop the seal hunt months before the actually hunt was to occur and had Pamela Anderson Touring around to get there message out there. owainSEALfinal

Call me ignorant but I just can’t see why I should care about this campaign or the seals. Sure they are baby seals, but would it really make a difference if they were adult seals being clubbed. When I look at the world and see people killing each other and many people (including children) starving to death each day or dying from unsafe drinking water, I find it hard to care about seals. Where are the celebrities when people are dying. Besides Bono and Bob Geldof, there doesn’t seem to be very much in the way of celebrity support. But pull out a cute animal and there are celebrities around the block.

Well I’ll shut up now before I rant any further. In any case, What do you think? Is this really worth the time and effort that is being put into save this animals? I can’t say that it is.

**** Just a side note I thought that I should give a link back to Disgrasian where I first saw this add posted.

Am I Brainwashed?

babe-of-the-day-grace-park-20091026043953871 That is the question that I have been asking myself lately.  I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine (female friend) that made the decision to shave her head.  Now she did seem to have some difficulty with it at first, but then she told me that she started to rock it.  She even told me that some of her professors said that they liked it.

I ended up responding to her, (I can’t remember what lead me to say this), that I don’t find shaved heads attractive.  Not a smart thing to say to a women with a shaved head.  To my comment she responded that I was brainwashed by society to believe in their form of beauty.

Now the truth is I can’t in any way 100% prove that she is wrong in what she was saying, since I was born and raised in this society.  There is no way for me to be born and raised in a different culture other than my own.  But at the same time I can’t just leave it at that.  I’m a guy I have to be right sometimes.

To the left is a picture of Grace Park.  Now I find this women absolutely amazing.  I know most people that watched Battlestar Galactica (BSG) watched it for Tricia Helfer, but for me Grace had my eyes especially after her first love scene with Helo (Tahmoh Penikett).  Then in the 3rd season when she got into some better shape, there was no turning back for me.

She doesn’t have all of those qualities.  I’ve shown you 2 of the better pictures of Grace, but here is a picture that I don’t find her so attractive in. (To the right)  Grace Park is a really skinny women and I like a bit more meat on my bones. She also has small breasts and I do like breasts to be a bit bigger.  But I still find her to be probably my favourite celebrity women right now.

Why you might ask?  Because I do.  I’ve found that over the years that what I thought was beauty has changed and a lot of what I find attractive in a women is her personality.  The physical is a factor in a women’s beauty (I won’t deny that), but I find that the personality is now a big factor for me.  Also I have found that there are different things to like in different women.  When I look at all the women that I liked from high school on up, there was different things that I liked about them.  I never simply just relied on a physical criteria in selecting a woman.

Most women seem to have a belief that they must conform to a certain set of physical parameters to be beautiful, but I know 3 women that didn’t fit any of the characteristics of what society called beautiful, that had men lined around the block waiting to go out with them.  One women I know was over weight but she still managed to have a bunch of boyfriends. (One of the guys she went out with kind of surprised me). The second girl, I kind of found ugly, but she had no shortage of guy friends ready to take her out.  The last women was some what attractive, but it was her personality that really stuck out with the guys that she worked with.

Guys like women for more that just the physical.  Despite our social norms.
