Resident Evil Afterlife

It looks pretty good.

From the above trailer, it looks like Resident Evil may be a very different film than the previous 3, as it seems Alice will be fighting an organization as opposed to zombies and monsters, like in the previous Resident Evils. And I’m not sure how to feel about that.

Resident Evil has been about the zombies and monsters and so to change that, kind of changes the spirit of the film franchise. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. Then again, this is the first trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife and there are some hints of monsters, so we could get a very different picture in the next few trailers.

Also, Resident Evil: Afterlife will be in 3-D. Not too surprising. Horror films seem as though they lend themselves to 3-D and so it’s not overly surprising that they decided to go that route with this Resident Evil film. What is surprising is that they have decided to use the same 3-D technology that James Cameron used to create Avatar. Unlike some other films which are simply converting to 3-D, from the ground up Resident Evil will be shot for 3-D which is a good thing if done right. Many Horror films descend into complete cheesiness with 3-D, so hopefully the guys behind Resident Evil will approach the film correctly, with a mind for 3-D.

But all in all, I’ve enjoyed the previous Resident Evil films, and so I look forward to this one.
