Thriller The Movie

NJNEW NEWARK STAR LEDGERBack in the 80s, I can still remember when as a kid, I watched the premiere of the now famous Thriller video following an episode of Entertainment Tonight. Back then I was a huge Michael Jackson fan and the video was pretty amazing, as it was, if I remember correctly, the first music video which was a short film. Even in today’s standards the Thriller video stands up pretty well and shows just how ahead of the curve the video was back when it was released. That is why it’s not too surprising to hear that there are now plans to make a feature length film based on Thriller.

In to direct this film adaptation is Kenny Ortega, who was the director of Michael’s previous venture, This Is It. Also attached is writer Jeremy Garelick who is best known for his writing work on The Hangover.

According to BeatCrave, the story of this film is said to revolve around Horror legend Vincent Price. Exactly how that could be accomplished is a bit of a mystery as Vincent Price Died back in 1993. Perhaps they will simply use a body double or completely recast the character Vincent played in the Thriller video.

Whatever the case, I’m actually looking forward to seeing what these guys come up with. Hopefully they can live up to the experience I had as a kid. What about you? How do you feel about the idea of a Thriller movie? Should they just leave Michael’s stuff alone now that he is dead?

The Google Store?

google This is one of those stories that just makes me wonder what Google is up to.

Google over the years has created a number of services from e-mail to search all for the benefit of our online lives. But, it now appears Google is not content with the services they currently have and are looking to add a few more. According to Engadget, Google also wants to be the company that you use to buy your music. That’s right. According to the newest rumours, Google is looking to open their very own music store.

Now an app store does make a lot of sense given that Google has ventured into the mobile operating system market, but music? I have to wonder if a music store is just a bit much. Sure Microsoft and Apple have music stores, but they also have music devices, something Google lacks. Perhaps these rumours are only a prelude to Google releasing a portable music player. That would be a story if Google did release a music player, but I would still have to question why. Google’s focus has been on the Internet for the longest time, as that is where they are currently making their money. Everything about Google has been up to this point, to get us to use the internet more so they could make more money off their ads. Perhaps a music store, assuming the rumours are true, signifies a shift in Google’s strategy.

I strongly believe that a company like Google which essentially makes all their money off of a single product does need to diversify their portfolio, but I have to wonder if music is the right direction for that. Then again, I’m not a business person. Perhaps someone out there will be able to set me straight on just why this move could make sense. Until then, I guess I’ll just have to speculate.

Poor Britney

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

This video of Britney Spears in concert was recently posted to the site Funny or Die.com,  which features the isolated feed from Britney Spears' Microphone.  For those of you that have already watched the video, you know that she does sound terrible as she sings along to her own songs.  Many times in the video she is off key and out of breath as she sings .  This has lead many to comment that Britney Spears sucks, that she has no talent.   But that is where I really feel people are really taking this out of contexts.

I should start here by saying that I am not a Britney Spears fan, I just feel that lately people just really like to pick on this girl even though she has personally done nothing to them.  This video was only released with the intention of embarrassing Britney, which I don't really think is right.  Having said all that, many people find it difficult to sing and dance at the same time.  As you can hear from the video, Britney is really out of breath, and under those circumstances, I don't think any of us have the right to expect someone to sing well.  One person in the comments section of the video, tried to imply that Usher and other artist do sing well while dance, why can't she.  Well this might be news to some, but they are probably lip synching too.  (Well at lest I wouldn't be surprised if they do, with there dance routines.)

I really feel that people are being unfair to Britney and I think it's time that people really just leave her alone and let your live her life like the rest of us.
