Mr. T Dislikes the A-Team

Well the new movie that is.

Over the last several months I've never keep it secret that I'm not a huge fan of the new film adaptation of the A-Team.  But what I never expected is that one of the original A-Team members would be a critic of the film.

MSN Movies is reporting that Mr. T feels that the new A-Team film is too graphic.  According to Mr. T, he found that the new A-Team film was too violent and had too much sex.  Now many sites have used his quote to take pot shots at Mr. T, but I feel more inclined to respect him for his honesty.   If someone finds a film to be too violent or sexual for their tastes, I think people should respect it.   Mr. T wasn't overly critical in what he said about the movie, nor did he ask for it to be band so I'm not quite sure where this criticism is really coming from.  So I've decided to quote what Mr. T said here,

"People die in the film and there's plenty of sex but when we did it, no one got hurt and it was all played for fun and family entertainment. These seem to be elements nobody is interested in anymore.

"It was too graphic for me. I've no doubt it will do big business at the box office but it's nothing like the show we turned out every week."

Is Mr.T really being overly critical or are people just picking on Mr. T.  I have to think that people are just over reacting to what Mr. T said.  And anyone that has a problem with what he said needs to take a good hard look at themselves, what do you think?

A-Team Trailer

Does anyone mind if I call them the Cheese-Team?

As you can see the A-Team have released their first trailer and its pretty cheesy.  Not that the original A-Team wasn’t cheesy.  Its just that, for me, this A-Team is a kind of cheesy in a bad way.

I have less desire to see this film than before I saw this trailer. And that’s a shame since I grew up with the A-Team. To be honest, part of the reason I don’t buy into the A-Team film is that, in every way it seems that the original A-Team cast was better.  Well, at lest from what we can see in the Trailer.  Mr. T had a kind of intimidation factor to him that Rampage seems to lack,  and Liam Neeson, whom I’ve loved in his previous roles, seems to be a bit weak as Hannibal.

Certainly, not everyone will agree with me.  Rodney over at The Movie Blog, gave the A-Team trailer a pretty good review.  I just don’t see it.  Through out watching this trailer I felt as if I was watching the trailer for a GIJOE sequel and not the A-Team.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I could just be crazy.  But it doesn’t feel like the A-Team.

Mr. T will not be in A-Team

mr_t_blue

Ya its unfortunately true.

The Latino Review put up a post last week informing us that Mr. T will not make a cameo appearance in the upcoming A-Team movie.

Apparently, one of the guys over at the Latino Review happened to see Mr. T in the gym, and asked him if he would be making an appearance in the A-Team remake.  Mr. T responded no and with good reason. Mr.T was offered a cameo role in the film, but turned it down because he felt that they would play up his role in the movie, which in turn would fool some of his friends and family into thinking that he had a big role in the movie while he had only a small role.

I think that its kind of classy to turn down a role for this reason.  Films have a habit of playing up things that they feel will get people into the theatre when it only makes up a small part of the movie.  I remember when Pan’s Labyrinth came out, the trailers played up the fantasy scenes so much so, that when I arrived late for my movie I thought I was in the wrong theatre.  Sure Pan’s Labyrinth was a really good movie, but I can’t help but feel that I was tricked by the trailers.

So, I applaud Mr. T for turning down the cameo.  Besides what was he really going to be doing in the film that would make his appearance worth while. Its not like they will have 2 B.A. Baracus in the movie.

A-Team Featurette Online

This video does do a lot to make the A-team kind of seem cool, but I still don’t know about this one.  Rampage kind of seems to acts like Mr. T, but can he pull it off for a whole movie.  And the love angle kind of scares me.  I don’t believe the A-team needs a love angle.  If this film just has some action, and give me some good lines I’ll be happy.  Lets not complicate it with a love story.
